Tyrant of the Hive is a Unique type of Hive enemy in Outward.
Description[]
A stronger variant of the Hive Lord, found in the Forest Hives in Enmerkar Forest. The boss can be found outside on the other side of the hive.
This enemy drops the unique Worldedge Greataxe, but it doesn't drop any Unknown Area Relic unlike most unique enemies.
Combat & Tactics[]
The Tyrant of the Hive attacks with both arms. It is vulnerable to Fire and Decay. Like all Hive enemies, Tyrant of the Hive is immune to Bleeding.
It is advised to bring potions that resist/reduce corruption, as the entire arena is filled with corruption gas.
- Inflicts Pain
A good strategy for those struggling with this boss is to wear armor with high Protection in order to negate the damage from the hornets, while trying to hit and run the Hive Lord to avoid his attacks. Fire weapons, particularly those which inflict Burning, are effective against the boss.
The easiest way to beat this boss is to spam tripwire traps. Turn left immediately upon entering the area and retreat to the edge of the map. Set up approximately 40-45 traps with iron spikes, all in a straight line, towards the tyrant. Once set up, shoot an arrow at the tyrant, and run back to the end of your line of traps. The tyrant will charge directly towards you, triggering all the traps. 40-45 iron spike traps should kill the tyrant without any threat to you. It’s advised to also have the flamethrower skill equipped, to finish off the tyrant should he survive the line of traps. Be aware that using weaker spikes, like wood, will require substantially more traps, and using better spikes, like palladium, will require far less. Do not use predator bone traps as they rely on bleeding damage to kill the enemy, and the tyrant is immune to bleeding.

Physical damage every 0.75 seconds - Hornets explode on the Hive Lord's death, dealing 28 damage.
