A Recipe scroll is an item which teaches the player a Recipe - knowledge of how to craft, cook or distill many different items.

A recipe scroll item name will always begin with "Crafting:", "Alchemy:" or "Cooking:". When used, the character will instantly learn the recipe, and the scroll will be consumed.

Recipe scrolls are commonly found from Merchants and Loot Containers, and sometimes as basic world spawns.

Most recipes do not have an associated scroll, but some don't. These exceptions are:

  • Single-item Cooking recipes do not have scrolls, for example cooking various Meat and Vegetables
  • Some end-game Equipment do not have scrolls
  • A few obscure Alchemy recipes do not have scrolls

Recipe scrolls are not required to learn the recipe. All recipes can be learned through manual crafting, either through trial and error or by knowing the recipe in advance.
